It's Fair Time
Well it's South Plains Fair time! Growing up in Amarillo, the Tri State Fair was always a big deal for me. I always loved to see the animals and even the craft exhibits and shows. Some of the highlight I remember most are: Working in the dunking booth and freezing!; My brother whistling for my attention and knowing exactly who it was in the massive crowd of people; lots of friend moments that I am sure they would like for me to keep off of this blog; and probably the most life changing moment was Rick and my dad talking about permission for us to get married. I know - at the fair? What can I say? Every year at the fair, I smell, hear, taste, or see something that brings back some wonderful memory of my days at the TSF. I wonder what it will be this year. Tell me your memories!

New Day
It's a new day! A chance to strengthen what I knew yesterday, attain new knowledge today, and prepare for what I can do tomorrow. May even add in a little forgiveness, repentance, and love too. Yep, it's gonna be a good day!

Easy Target
No, I'm not talking about shopping. I'm talking about how I must be an easy target for harassment (for lack of a better word). I mean people give me a hard time about everything. Maybe it's because I can take it and not get offended. I take pride in my thick skin. I guess I earned that growing up with 3 older brothers. Or maybe it's because they need to feel better about themselves so they belittle me- ooh take that! JK. I guess it all started when I was very young, maybe 5 years old, and one of my brothers, whose name starts with a D and ends with a N, told me that I was adopted and that our parents could only have boys. In Jr. High, I was very clumsy, and ran everywhere, and fell a lot at the most embarrassing times. I deserved every snickering remark those days. My high school years, I later found out, were filled with avoidance OF me because they were afraid of me. Now that's funny! Partially because my brother took me to school on his motorcycle and they thought I was a biker, and partly because I had already developed that thick skin and pretty much everything bounced off of me and back to them. Now, in adulthood, I'm still faced with ridicule. Don't get me wrong, I take it as a complement that they care enough to even be interested in my life. I get it at church and work and home.....everywhere. I know I probably ask for a lot of it, or at least give it back as good as I can. I'm just very thankful that my life is filled with laughter and I can provide entertainment for those around me. So to ALL of you who have made me laugh at myself, consider my choices, and become a better person everyday, Thank You!

Holiday Hotel
Now I've stayed in hotels from LA to Chicago to Miami to Vegas to Sayre, OK and lots of places in between. I've stayed in big hotels and small hotels; Brand hotels and even a private B&B where Tom and Nicole once stayed. But this weekend I stayed at Bizzaro Hotel. It must have been a very famous hotel because I am quite convinced that the US Gymnastics team was staying in the room above us and practicing their floor routines until late in the night - the very warm night. Seems they have a control on the air conditioner that will only allow cooling to 68 degrees. Now at home that would be too cool, but I need it cold in a hotel. And hotel elevators- this hotel was only 3 stories so you are only on the elevator for a few seconds. (usually I take stairs, but I couldn't find them-scary!) So, we meet a group of "square dancers", as Cooper said, coming off the elevator which they left well perfumed. I see one of the guys on my way down and then again on my way up. Let's just say I prefer the perfumania to the fog that he left. Really people....... And I love this way hotels put those Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner bottles in the bathroom when we all know they are filling them with Ms. Breck. Who do they think they are fooling? I squished my bottles up real good so they couldn't use them again. Is that bad? Well reusing those bottles for numerous customers is gross! When I called today to cancel the 3rd night of our reservation, the front desk responded with, " Do you have a reservation?" I guess that about sums up our stay. I love to stay in hotels and we always have some kind of fun experience when we do stay at a hotel. So I will look forward to my next adventure, but I am always ready to get back home! I would love to hear one of your great hotel experiences.
